Redmi Note 15 Pro+ Review: Big Power, Big Battery, One Big Trade‑off

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G comes in as the most premium model in the Note 15 series, with a focus on performance, display, and battery endurance. It delivers solid hardware for the price but also brings one clear compromise that buyers should know before purchasing.

Design and Build

Redmi has gone for a more premium look this year, with a glass back on some variants and a leather‑finish option on others, making the phone feel more upmarket in the hand. The curved edges and refined frame improve grip, though the device is noticeably chunky due to the massive battery inside. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front adds extra protection against drops and scratches, which is a welcome addition in this price segment.

Display Quality

On the front, you get a 6.83‑inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. The screen is bright enough for outdoor use, reaching up to around 3,200 nits peak brightness, and offers punchy colours and deep blacks ideal for content consumption and gaming. With 12‑bit colour depth and fast 480 Hz touch sampling, animations feel smooth and the touch response is very snappy during gaming.

Performance and Software

Powering the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Day‑to‑day performance is fluid, and the phone comfortably handles multitasking, social media, and casual to moderate gaming without noticeable lag. The device runs Android 15 with HyperOS 2 on top, which is feature‑rich but also comes with a fair number of pre‑installed apps and bloatware that some users may find annoying.

Cameras

The headline feature is the 200 MP main rear camera, which is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra‑wide camera. In good lighting, the main camera captures detailed photos with good colours and dynamic range, making it suitable for social media and casual photography. However, the ultra‑wide camera is only average, with softer details and more noise, especially in low‑light situations, which is one of the noticeable compromises on this phone.

On the front, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ offers a 32 MP selfie camera, which delivers sharp selfies and works well for video calls and short‑form content. Compared to the regular Note 15 Pro, the Pro+ has a higher‑resolution front camera and more powerful processing, making it better suited for content creators who rely on the front cam.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery is one of the strongest points of the Redmi Note 15 Pro+. The phone packs a 6,500 mAh cell that can easily last up to two days with moderate use or around a full day of heavy use, often delivering around 10 hours of screen‑on time. For gamers, it can handle roughly 7 hours of continuous gaming, depending on settings and titles.

Charging is equally impressive: the 100 W wired fast charging can top up the phone very quickly, reducing the time you spend plugged in. Over time, this combination of endurance and speed makes the phone feel extremely reliable for people who are constantly on the move.

The “One Big Compromise”

Despite its strong hardware, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ does cut corners in a few areas, and one of them stands out as the main compromise. The phone still uses UFS 2.2 storage, which is slower than the newer, faster storage standards seen on some rivals in the same or slightly higher price range, affecting app install speeds and large file transfers. In addition, the secondary cameras (especially the ultra‑wide) and the amount of bloatware further reinforce the feeling that Red.

Price and Variants in India

In India, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G starts at Rs. 37,999 for the base variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. There are higher variants with 12 GB RAM and up to 512 GB storage, going up to Rs. 43,999. The phone is available in multiple colour options such as Carbon Black, Coffee Mocha, and Mirage Blue, and can be purchased via Amazon, Xiaomi’s online store, and offline retail partners.

Should You Buy It?

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ makes the most sense for users who prioritise strong battery life, fast charging, a bright AMOLED display, and a high‑resolution main camera above everything else. If you can live with average ultra‑wide performance, older storage tech, and some bloatware in the software, it is a powerful all‑rounder in the upper‑midrange segment. However, if you need a more balanced camera setup or faster storage and cleaner software, you may want to compare it against other phones in the same price bracket before deciding.
